Moving from Cargo 2 to 3
Moving from Cargo 2 to 3
Updated over a week ago

Cargo 3 does not affect Cargo 2. Cargo 2 is a 100% active, fully functional, site builder. Cargo 2 sites will not be discontinued. Cargo 3 was designed to have more advanced features than Cargo 2.

  • Since Cargo 3 is a new site builder it has a separate fee structure

  • Cargo 3 does not cost more than Cargo 2

  • It is not possible to edit Cargo 2 sites in Cargo 3

  • It is not possible to import or move Cargo 2 sites to Cargo 3

  • It is not possible to import Cargo 2 content into Cargo 3

  • You can manage both your Cargo 2 and Cargo 3 sites from within u.cargo

Unlimited public cargo.site domains

Cargo 3 has introduced unlimited public sites using “cargo.site” domains under one subscription (as in: site1.cargo.site, site2.cargo.site, etc.) — if you are currently paying for Cargo 2, this will apply to any Cargo 3 sites you make. There is nothing you need to do to access this: if Cargo detects an active payment, any Cargo 3 sites you make will be public when using the “cargo.site” domain.

Transfer a Cargo 2 payment to Cargo 3

If you’ve made a new Cargo 3 site and want to transfer your Cargo 2 payment to Cargo 3 in order to make it public, you can do so from within your Cargo 3 site. Go to Publish Settings (in the right menu bar): click Make this site public. You’ll see an option to transfer your Cargo 2 payment. Make sure that you are logged into the account that contains both the upgraded Cargo 2 site as well as the new Cargo 3 site. Note that transferring the payment will make your Cargo 2 site private, and that you will no longer be paying for it.

NB: on Cargo 2 a payment is called “Upgrade” and on Cargo 3 it is called “Subscription.” When you transfer a Cargo 2 upgrade to Cargo 3, your Upgrade is converted to a Subscription.

Use a Cargo 2 domain on Cargo 3

If you want to use a domain that is currently connected to a Cargo 2 site and connect it to a Cargo 3 site, you can do so from within your Cargo 3 site: go to Publish Settings and click Add a domain, and then Use an existing Domain. All domains associated with your Cargo account, whether 2 or 3, will be listed here.
