Linking
Updated over a week ago

Linking from one page to another is done using the Link menu ⌘K. Most things can be linked: text, images, icons, etc. For example, to create a persistent navigation menu you can Pin a page and use the Link to Page function to create links to your various pages.

Navigate functions

The “Navigate” menu contains Cargo-specific functions related to site navigation. To use these, select some text, an image, or an icon, open the link menu, and choose one of the following:

Home
Loads whichever page (or Set) that is set as Home, whether desktop, mobile, or both. Read more about setting the Home page in Pages and Sets.

Previous Page
Loads the page before the current page in the page list. If this function is used on a link within a Set, this is limited to pages within the Set.

Next Page
Loads the page after the current page in the page list. If this function is used on a link within a Set, this is limited to pages within the Set.

Random Page
Loads a random page on the site. This excludes the Home page, Pinned pages, and Hidden pages. If this function is used on a link within a Set, this is limited to pages within the Set.

Tags
When Tags are added to pages, they can be linked to using this function. When a link to a Tag is clicked, pages containing this Tag (or Tags) will be loaded as a vertical scroll.

Contact Form
Opens Cargo’s built-in contact form. Messages submitted through this form are sent to the email address used by the site’s Admin(s) — this currently cannot be changed.

Email
Used for adding “Mailto” links, which redirect to an email address instead of a link, and open the default email client on the visitor’s computer.

Quick View
This allows a direct url to be loaded inside the Quick View function, which will display it on top of the site, like Image Zoom. For example, you can link to a PDF, a video, another site, etc.

Add to Cart
If you are using shopping functionality, this is a way to enable your products to be added to the Cart.

View Cart
When shopping functionality is enabled, this will open the Cart.

External links

To link offsite, use External links. These can be set to open in a new window by toggling the related icon to the right of the link field.

Active Link state

When text links are used for site navigation, these can be styled to indicate the currently active page. To change this, use the “Active Link” menu in Site Settings (see Site and Page Layout). Choose a color or click the “</>” icon to add other styles, like font-weight: bold;, text-decoration: underline;, etc. By default links to “Home” are excluded from this, but can be included by checking the “Apply to Home link” option.
